Northern Territory Attractions.

There are so many Northern Territory attractions I could probably dedicate this entire site to describing them and still run out of space.

The sheer multitude of Northern Territory attractions will blow you away so the question is…...where to start?

The Sea Princess at Fort Hill Wharf.

Darwin, the territory’s capital, offers the traveller some wonderful delights.

Darwin is a unique tropical Australian city magnificently situated on the Arafura Sea and is rich in our past heritage of settlement.

The ravages of bombings and disastrous cyclones could not break the determination of Australia's most multicultural city.

Vibrant, a relaxed lifestyle, friendliness and uniqueness make this small city a must to experience, to discover, to explore.

Take a four hour afternoon tour the highlights of which include:

Smith Street Mall

Mitchell Street - restaurants and cafes

St Mary’s Cathedral

Cavanagh Street - old China Town

Trendy Darwin Wharf precinct on the harbour

World War II oil storage tunnel

Does he have a surfboard under there.

Perhaps this is a little tame for you…………..well,

if you like crocs, and lets face it who doesn’t…!!!, you can grab an excellent opportunity to observe these primeval creatures by taking a cruise along the Adelaide River.

Face saltwater crocodiles close up as they leap out of the water to snatch their food.

Yes, you too can get up close (and personal?) with some of the largest wild salties you’ll ever see!

You’ll also get to visit Window on the Wetlands Visitor Centre and see birds of prey scavenge for the leftovers.

So many more Northern Territory attractions to see…… Katherine Gorge from the air, awesome...

Using Darwin as a base you can:

Cruise through the spectacular Katherine Gorge.

This is one of the many unforgettable Northern Territory attractions available to you in the Top End.

Travelling from Darwin you will journey to Nitmiluk National Park where you will view ancient Aboriginal rock art on the canyon walls, the abundant flora and fauna of the region and maybe even see a few more crocodiles!

Enjoy a refreshing swim at the crocodile free Edith Falls, before returning that evening.

If you have two days and wish to experience Kakadu National Park then this is for you.

Book a cruise along the Yellow Waters, where crocodiles, birds and occasionally wild horses are seen amongst paperbark forests and freshwater mangroves.

A billabong in Arnhem Land.

Visit Arnhem Land by 4WD, home to many different Aboriginal clan groups for thousands of years and reflect on the intimate relationship the traditional owners have with this sacred land.

You won’t be sorry.

You can visit Arnhem Land and Litchfield National Park from Darwin, you can also visit Ubirr Rock, cruise the East Alligator River, discover Mikinj Valley and view remote Aboriginal art at Nourlangie Rock.

(The name 'Nourlangie' is an anglicized version of Nawurlandja.)

The most famous rock art picture at Nourlangie is called Namondjok and for some Aboriginal groups he is a Creation Ancestor who now lives in the sky and can be seen only at night, when he appears as a dark spot in the Milky Way galaxy. A Kakadu grasshopper dressed for a party.

And we really mustn’t forget Kakadu, the largest, and wildest, national park in Australia.

You can also visit Kakadu from Darwin.

Spend a night or two in a national park that’s the size of a small country, see the most amazing wildlife, photograph the wonderful flora, you definitely won’t be disappointed, nor will you forget it in a hurry, indeed this may just be the best holiday of your life….!
