Canberra Shopping.

Canberra's thriving Civic area is the main area for Canberra shopping and is home to a number of large Canberra shopping centres, spreading pedestrian shopping malls, and department stores, including both Myers and David Jones department stores.

Featuring the largest concentration of shops and shopping centres in Canberra, the Civic district is also home to a good selection of specialty shops which include jewellery stores, art galleries, antiques shops, restaurants and cafés and some wonderful street entertainment.

Along City Walk in Canberra's Civic district is the Canberra Shopping Centre, a large and trendy indoor shopping mall.

The Canberra Shopping Centre has many outstanding fashion boutiques, clothing shops of all descriptions, homewares outlets, department stores, a food court, gift shops selling souvenirs of Canberra, a large car park and exceptional shopping facilities, including wheelchair access.

With almost 200 shops, the Canberra Shopping Centre is one of the best places to shop in Canberra or, for that matter, all of the The Australian Capital Territory.

Other districts and suburbs of Canberra with good shopping facilities include shopping malls and shopping centres in Tuggeranong, Manuka, Belconnen and the Woden areas.

just one of the shops in the Tuggeranong shopping complex. For some of the best bargains in Canberra you have to visit some of Canberra's numerous markets, including the Belconnen Food and Fruit Market on Lathlain Street, the Gorman House Market on Ainslie Avenue, and Canberra's most popular market, the Old Bus Depot Flea Market on Wentworth Avenue, in Canberra's Kingston district.

Most shops and shopping centres in the Canberra and The A.C.T. are open between 9:30am and 6.00pm Monday to Wednesday and Friday and Saturday, and until 9:00pm on Thursday.

Some shops now are starting to stay open later on Fridays.

Sunday trading in Canberra is beginning to increase in popularity, with more restricted opening hours, although many shops, shopping centres, indoor shopping malls and department stores in Canberra still remain closed on Sundays.

Here’s a list of the more notable shopping centres in Canberra........have fun.
