Canberra restaurants.
Canberra restaurants and the wining and dining scene will come as a pleasant surprise to many visitors. For a city of its size, there is a great variety of restaurants in Canberra ranging from up market venues catering to politicians and executives, through to cheap and cheerful establishments frequented mainly by university students. You will find an abundance of international restaurants, trendy cafes and stylish dining venues and pavement dining is particularly popular, "Canberrans" can spend hours over a leisurely lunch in the sun!
The quality of cuisine in Canberra restaurants is excellent, thanks to a smorgasbord of fresh produce, including seafood and excellent local wines. Being the well-planned place it is, Canberra's main drinking and dining venues tend to be clustered in certain suburbs however, there are a few notable dining establishments located outside the main centres that are definitely worth a visit. If you like to Indian style then the Jewel Of India, 16/11 Bougainville Street, Manuka Court, Manuka is one of the restaurants that will be sure to please.
Offering special lunch and dinner banquets, the Jewel of India uses only authentic Indian recipes and spices making the food a genuine Indian experience. The Boathouse by the Lake, Grevillea Park, Menindee Drive, Barton offers superb dining with wonderful views over Lake Burley Griffin. If you don’t mind paying a fair price for something special then this could be the place for you. Luxurious surroundings, great Australian menu and terrific service all add up to a dining experience that’s just a little out of the ordinary. And for something a little different again, Vasco's Portuguese Charcoal Grill, 46 Giles Street, Kingston is a Canberra restaurant to visit if you want to try some delicious Portuguese offerings. All of these Canberra restaurants do have one thing in common, if you like a glass of wine or two with your meal you have to bring your own, they will serve you beer etc. but the wine is definitely BYO. There are, of course, many more wonderful places to eat throughout the length and breadth of this beautiful country, every major town and every small community will have restaurants and cafés which will serve you with quite delicious food, it’s just a matter of finding them. Enjoy, John.
