Brisbane Restaurants.
Brisbane is my home town and the Brisbane restaurants and café scene here has blossomed in recent years to the point where you and I will find whatever we’re looking for in fine food and fabulous surroundings.
You'll find that there is no shortage of good eateries in Brisbane and many of these have taken advantage of the balmy climate and provide very pleasant outdoor eating areas.
Away from the Brisbane city centre, there are clusters of delightful restaurants in Paddington, Fortitude Valley and New Farm, and also at Southbank and West End.
When you arrive in Brisbane you’ll be faced with the wonderful dilemma of deciding which style of food to tackle and your biggest disappointment will be that you will have to depart this culinary hot spot with barely a fraction of the delightful Brisbane restaurants visited.
Whereas other cities direct you to the Italian quarter, Chinatown, or the Greek sector, Brisbane restaurants provide it all, beginning in the heart of the city and sprawling outward.
Brisbane city's location upon the rich waters of Moreton Bay creates a haven for seafood connoisseurs, and the fertile soils contribute to the supply of succulent meats and vegetables.
The Queensland harvest is truly mouth-watering.
Brisbane is not only a wonderful place to eat but for those of us interested in the ancient art of imbibing, this beautiful city can be the springboard for an adventure into the noble art of brand tasting.
Along with Brisbane's own legend, Castlemaine XXXX beer there is a selection of drinks available that would appease even the hardiest devotee and while you can travel for days in the Queensland outback without finding anything at all to drink you’ll be hard pressed to walk more than 20 or 30 metres in Brisbane without being tempted to slake your terrible thirst.....again.
As I said before, Brisbane is my home town, my wife and I eat out in Brisbane restaurants often, two of our favourites would include:
Quays Restaurant and Bar, at the Mercure Hotel, 85-87 North Quay, Brisbane has a $59.00 seafood buffet that will leave you in awe.
Nowhere has seafood quite as good as Brisbane restaurants and this is some of the best but again you must book or be disappointed.
The Customs House Brasserie at 399 Queen Street, Brisbane is a definite choice if you like modern Australian with more than a touch of class.
Relaxed and sophisticated the Customs House Brasserie, while not cheap is well worth the investment.
And my favourite of all the wonderful Brisbane restaurants would have to be Baguette Restaurant & Lounge Bar which is at 150 Racecourse Road, Ascot, for lunch or dinner.
Ascot is just a little out of the city but the food here is well worth the taxi fare and just for the ladies they have a ladies lunch special for just $29.50, you won’t be disappointed.
As well as the many fine Brisbane restaurants many of the local pubs supply excellent food to accompany your choice of drink, including Brisbane Underground, Friday's and Gilhooley's.
The same locations offer regular, late night entertainment, including live bands and drink discounts.
For the traveler on a tight budget, the Down Under Bar and Grill offers food and drink at prices that help guard your finances without spoiling your evening.
Have fun...
John.
